Alden Nowlan: A Vancouver Celebration

October 30 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Book Warehouse Books

In 2017, Goose Lane Editions/icehouse poetry published the long-awaited Collected Poems of Alden Nowlan, the first-ever gathering between two covers of the complete chapbooks & full-length collections by one of Canada’s most beloved poets. Nowlan (1933-1983), says singer-songwriter Al Tuck, “reminds us our English is good. Our cold winter-tempered Irish English, modern, spare, and mythological. These poems are enough to make you want to put your guitar down.” Readers of poetry agree; the Collected sold so well in its first months that it recently went into a second printing.

Come celebrate with us at a once-in-a-lifetime reading from this book, in the voices of many poets & other readers from Vancouver & nearby, including Heather Haley, Kevin McNeilly, Miranda Pearson, Rob Taylor, Barbara Nickel, Aislinn Hunter, Keith Johnston, George Bowering, Ben Gehrels, Elena Johnson, Conni Kilfoil, Christopher Levenson, David Eso, Rhea Tregebov, Jane Munro, Heather Jessup, Andrew Bartlett.

Note: a similar event will be held in Victoria a few days earlier. Check out the Facebook event page Alden Nowlan: A Victoria Celebration.
